Family policies
What families ask before a first class.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
Watching class and belt tests
Parents and family are welcome to watch any class from the bench by the window. Please stay seated and quiet during belt tests, and turn flash off. Brothers and sisters who are not training stay on the bench with an adult.
What to wear and bring
A plain t-shirt and loose trousers are fine for the first class, and we lend a uniform for that visit. No jewelry, hair tied back, nails short and shoes off at the mat. Winter boots stay by the door. We tell you at joining how to get a uniform of your own.
When to keep your child home
If a student has a fever, a stomach bug or anything that spreads, please keep them home and send us a message. You do not need to give us the details.
Drop-off and pickup
Children stay in the hall until a parent or an adult named on the enrollment page comes in for them. We keep a sign-in sheet at the front desk and check who is collecting, and we ask to see ID from anyone we do not know.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for the main holidays and, in winter, when the roads are bad. We text families the same afternoon and post it on the booking page.
Leaving the program
Enrollment runs month to month. To stop, tell us in writing before the next billing date; the month in progress is billed as usual. If your family is on a posting, tell us when you expect to leave and ask us how to pause.
Screens and phones
Phones stay on silent and in a bag during class. Please ask the instructor before filming, and we ask families not to post pictures of other people's children.
